SHODA SHOYU CO.,LTD.

Shoda Shoyu was founded around 150 years ago, in the 6th year of the Meiji era, by ‘Shoda Fuemon’ the third, who believed that the rice merchant trade was an opportune market at the time. While inheriting the traditional fermentation and brewing techniques, we are also constantly working on technological innovations to chase further perfection. At the root of our cause is a strong desire to preserve tradition and a proactive spirit that swiftly realizes and answers to the needs of the current times. Based on the belief of ‘learning from the past and integrating it into the new’, we will continue to provide all our customers with products that align with our motto “Delicious is Pleasant”.

History

We were founded by the ancestors of the Shoda family, who originally lived in the Serada Nitta District (present-day Ota City). It all started when they moved to Tatebayashi during the Edo period to start their business. Assuming that the Shoda family has been in business for about 20 years, their history in Tatebayashi spans over 30 years. The renovated former brewery is currently being used as the head office. As latecomers to the soy sauce-making trade, we decided to specialize in industrial processing and commercial use rather than focusing on household products, for which the market was still new. Entering the manufacturing of processed seasonings from an early stage, we became the first in the industry to start delivering soy sauce by tanker truck.
